78th INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION 2024

Home Charity Trust invited people of its neighborhood to celebrate 78th Independence Day 2024, together with their girls. The event was meant to celebrate freedom of choice and freedom of voice and especially empowering girls of our nation. The plan was to inspire patriotism in young hearts by singing Pakistan’s beautiful patriotic national songs while playing Pakistan’s musical instruments, followed by food that brings us all on dining table no matter what.

We had very talented young guest – Sajal Fatima, who is student of Musicology department at NCA, she had participated and won multiple national level competitions, and has been learning north Indian classical music for 3 years. You can listen to her voice here in this video:

Independence Day (Youm-e-Azadi) is celebrated in Pakistan on 14th August as a commemoration of Pakistan achieving independence from British rule as a dominion within the Commonwealth on August 14-15, 1947 and became a sovereign state. Pakistan celebrates its Independence on 14th and India celebrates it on 15th.

Pakistan came into existence as a result of the Pakistan Movement, which aimed for the creation of an independent Muslim state in the north-western regions of British India via partition. The movement was led by the All-India Muslim League under the leadership of Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The event was brought forth by the Indian Independence Act 1947 under which the British Raj gave independence to the Dominion of Pakistan which comprised West Pakistan (present-day Pakistan) and East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). In the Islamic calendar, the day of independence coincided with Ramadan 27, the eve of which, being Laylat al-Qadr, is regarded as sacred by Muslims. (Source: Wikipedia)

Gathering people around culture and traditions and new ideas is one of the amazing and easiest way to build a resilient community. We are trying our best to ensure the safety and healthy development of our girls while providing the opportunities of inclusion for all children alike.

We are grateful to Sajal Fatima and other young volunteers who help bridge gaps between children and adults and bring them together to enjoy and celebrate and make memories together through different activities.
